Conduct a Colorado business search using the Secretary of State’s online platform. Results show whether similar entity names exist and include registration details for each record. Standard and advanced search options are supported, along with a separate function for confirming name availability.
Business Entity Search
1. Go to the Business Database Search Page
2. Choose a Search Method
Use one of the following search methods to look up entities in the business database:
- Standard Search: Enter a business name or ID/docket number in the empty field and select Search to proceed (see image).
- Advanced Search: Under More search options, select Advanced search (see image). This opens the advanced search filters described in the step below.
3. Apply Advanced Search Filters
Filter by Date (Optional): The first two fields in the advanced search options can be used to limit results by date (see image).
Filter by Search Type: Below Search for, choose the type of information to search by (see image). Next, enter the related details in the fields to the right (see image).
Select the checkbox next to I’m not a robot to confirm that a human is performing the search, then click Search to access the results page.
4. View the List of Entities
If matching entities are found in the Secretary of State’s records, they will be displayed. If not, a message will appear indicating that no results were found (see image).
Click the ID Number for any listed entity to access a summary of its registration details and registered agent information.
5. Inspect Entity Summary
The search tool provides a summary with the following entity details:
- Entity name
- Status
- Formation date
- ID number
- Form (entity type)
- Periodic report month
- Jurisdiction
- Principal office street address
- Principal office mailing address
- Registered agent name
- Registered agent street address
- Registered agent mailing address
Below the summary are options to review the entity’s filing history, obtain certified copies of documents, file forms, and take other actions (see image).
